My type A brain hated this...
But my health gave me no choice.
Prior to Better Bowls, I was at Ernst & Young LLP for a decade. My team was pitching a global convenience chain on a major technology upgrade.
We worked on this pitch for weeks. Global firm leaders watching us closely.
Winning this deal was a big deal for my continued career progression.
And then it happened.
I got my period the morning of the pitch.
And the period cramping started.
The client pitch was scheduled for 11am. It was currently 9:30am. So, I still had time for the pain to die down.
With my heating pad on my stomach, I jumped into our internal prep call.
Small sweat drops formed on my face, and, not the cute dewy kind. Then, the cramping sharpened. I turned off my video.
It’s 10:30am. Faaaack.
I messaged a teammate: “I need you to take my place. I’m in major pain from my period.”
And just like that: I missed the huge client pitch.
Because of my period.
Managing my period pain is why I’m relentless around eating well daily. Your “why” may be different.
